High School English Language Arts curriculum and course pathways
- Alicia Bartz wrote about concerns raised during public comment regarding the CommonLit English 9 curriculum, including perceived lack of challenge, limited full-length novel reading, and questions about implementation, differentiation, and monitoring and adjustment. The email also raised concerns about detracking in humanities, limited advanced pathway options, and whether current course pathways are adequately challenging high-achieving students.
- Nicole Marble, the district's Chief Academic Officer, responded that the district is in the Monitoring and Adjust phase of the curriculum review cycle for multiple subject areas and stated that an update on curriculum and instruction work will be provided to the Board of Education and community in June.
District staffing and administrative positions
Carol Moore asked the district to downsize top-heavy administrative positions and retain teachers, stating that learning and teaching begins with teachers.
